If you are in need of some uplifting and positive energy — check out the latest single by Kendrick Lamar entitled “I (love myself).” The Rahki-produced track samples the Isley Brothers’ 1973 version of their soul hit “That Lady” — and is all about self-love and self-reliance.

Lamar revealed the cover art for the single. The image depicts a member of the Bloods and a member of the Crips street gangs in unity. (Source: MTV)

And I love myself!
The world is a ghetto with guns and picket signs.
I love myself!
But it can do what it want whenever it wants and I don’t mind.
I love myself!
He said I gotta get up, life is more than suicide.

I have a musical crush on Kendrick Lamar. There, I said it! LOL

  • I love it! We need more uplifting songs like this. I was just talking about the lack of confidence I see in so many young men of color. We focus a lot on girls and self acceptance, but the boys need this message too.

I don’t even need to listen to the song to know it’s dope. I love me some Kendrick! I’m still salty over the Grammy snub, but I have problems letting ish go.I’m working on that with my therapist.
