According to new research conducted by Sanctuary Spa, 60 percent of women revealed after 35 they would prefer to be told they look younger versus being told they look thinner.
More specifically, one in three participants are under an overwhelming amount of stress to maintain a youthful appearance. Two-thirds of participants used anti-aging products. One in five women admitted to lying about their age. Many of the women surveyed admitted the incidents when they worry about looking youthful the most is on birthdays and holidays, at weddings and christenings and when observing oneself in a photograph.
When the women were asked what age do you consider “old,” there were a variety of answers. Twentysomethings believed old is when you hit 50. Women who were 35 believed you’re considered old once you hit 60. Women who were over 55 believed you’re not old until after 70.
What are the top signs to determine you’re ageing? Here is what the participants said:
- Sagging breasts
- Losing teeth
- Saying ‘I remember when this song was first released
- Forgetting people’s names
- More frequent trips to the doctor
- Forgetting where you’ve left your glasses
- Needing afternoon naps
- Listening to BBC or Radio 4
Note: Sanctuary Spa only surveyed British women.
