A small town in Missouri has its first black mayor, but members of the police force walked off. And good riddance to them.
Tyrus Byrd, of Parma, Missouri became mayor after defeating Randall Ramsey, who had served as mayor for 37 years.
Ramsey said the 6 officers gave their resignation letters and cited safety concerns. The city attorney, clerk and water treatment supervisor also quit.
“I think it’s pretty dirty they all quit without giving her a chance,” resident Martha Miller told KFVS. “But I don’t think they hurt the town any by quitting, because who needs six police for 740 people.”
