Jill Scott may have changed her mind about her “mentor” after Bill Cosby admitted to giving women drugs before having sex with them in a 2005 deposition, but Whoopi Goldberg is still willing to give the Cos the benefit of the doubt.
“As a former Quaalude user…” Goldberg joked on The View, before saying she doesn’t like “snap judgments because I’ve had snap judgments made on me.”
Despite dozens of women coming forward to claim Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them over the course of four decades, Goldberg is still reserving her judgment until Cosby is proven guilty.
“This is my opinion, and in America still, I know it’s a shock, but you actually were innocent until proven guilty,” she explained. “He has not been proven a rapist.”
Former Cosby Show kid and The View co-host Raven-Symoné was also hesitant to discuss her former boss.
“I don’t like to talk about it that much, because he’s the reason I’m on this panel in the first place, he gave me my first job,” Symoné admitted. “At the same time, you need the proof. Then I’ll be able to give my judgment here or there.”
What do you think of Goldberg’s refusal to believe Cosby is a rapist? Sound-off!
