18-year-old Mansur Ball-Bey became the latest Black teen to be gunned down by a police officer last week and now his official autopsy is suggesting inconsistencies in the initial report given by the cop who gunned him down.

The officers on the scene at the time of the fatal shooting claimed that Mansur Ball-Bey and another young man attempted to run from police when they were approached as the officers were allegedly executing a search warrant. The officers claim that Ball-Bey and the other young man were armed with guns and did not comply when instructed by police to drop their weapons. The report from the officers claims that Mansur Ball-Bey instead turned and pointed his gun at them, which prompted the officer to shoot him, however the official report from the medical examiner tells another story.

According to Yahoo News, the newly-released autopsy reports have revealed that Ball-Bey died from a single gunshot that “entered his back and struck his heart,” clearly contradicting the officers reports that he fired at Ball-Bey after he turned and pointed a gun at him. The medical examiner also stated that given the position of the bullet, it is clear that Ball-Bey was not turned toward the officers when he was shot, as they suggested. Furthermore, the autopsy report supports the medical examiners findings that the gunshot would have killed Ball-Bey almost instantly, making it nearly impossible for him to keep running after being shot, as also suggested in the officers’ account of what happened.

The results of this autopsy are yet another case in which the officer’s accounts don’t match up with what really happened in yet another killing of a young Black man at the hands of police.
