Fresh off the news that Will & Jada aren’t ending their marriage, another pair is calling it quits.
Miss Piggy and her longterm bae Kermit announced they’d ended their relationship after “thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling.”
The pair posted similar statements on Facebook about the split. Here’s what Miss Piggy had to say about their breakup:
After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Kermit the Frog and moi have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter… unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.
Tuesday, the former couple appeared on a panel at the Television Critics Association to discuss their upcoming show, The Muppets, which premieres in September. Despite their split, Miss Piggy and Kermit said they’ll still work together.
“It is entirely professional,” Kermit said of his relationship with Miss Piggy. “I am taking a behind-the-scenes role — we’re both professional adults.”
Ever the firecracker, Miss Piggy added: “I have no problem working with my ex … dating moi is like flying close to the sun. It was inevitable Kermit would drop down to the Earth and I would stay close to the heavens.”
