Power 105.1 radio host Charlamagne is known for speaking his mind–even when he’s dead wrong (which is often). But his latest pontification about Iggy Azalea’s place in hip hop history has many scratching their heads.

On a recent episode of MTV2’s Uncommon Sense, Charlamagne called the Australian rapper “a hip hop legend.”

“Whether you like it or not, Iggy Azalea’s a hip-hop legend,” he said, arguing she debuted in a year “that was very bad for Black people” and thus has been unfairly targeted for her vocal Blackface.

While his fellow co-hosts disagreed with his assessment, Charlamagne held firm.

“I will always give Iggy Azalea her props, I have supported Iggy from day one.”

Listen….bruh…no. Just no.

Like many of you, my head was about to explode listening to Charlamagne ride for his white queen, but thankfully hip hop journalist came through with the PERFECT response.

Enough said.

Charlamagne makes controversial statements for RATINGS sake. Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club wouldn’t be as big as it is today without him. Ish, the guy’s name is Charlamagne tha God. Hello!

He’s getting more and job offers based on his persona. That’s the world we’re living in. People shouldn’t this seriously.

With only one studio album I wouldn’t call Iggy Azalea a legend but she most definitely is the first successful White female rappers. Like it or not. People who really don’t really like Iggy should just ignore her. The whole hate-Iggy-campaign is making her BIGGER. Her concerts are still SOLD OUT.

Um, no. Her tour was cancelled.

I went to one of her concerts in Canada this summer, and it was packed. Yep, I know she did cancelled some shows in the US.

Still, Charlamagne’s statements shouldn’t be taken seriously. He makes controversial statements for a living, and it seems to be working…

    • The US is where hiphop lives, if she cant book tours here she will slowly fade away just like she needs too. But then again you actually admit to going to her concerts so…….

This is a trend now, like black celebrities are being called in to honor a clause in their contract that says it’s time to clown.
