Toni Braxton has authorized Lifetime to bring her Un-Break My Heart memoir to the small screen. The movie, like the book, will retell the singer’s life story, touching on her battle with lupus, financial troubles, divorce, her son’s autism and her resulting activism and her family struggles.

Un-Break My Heart is the never-before-told story of the measures Braxton took to make herself and her family whole again, serving as an inspiration to people around the world,” Lifetime stated.

Braxton will executive produce the project and appear in the film, but not as herself. Veteran director Vondie Curtis-Hall will direct the film.

I like Toni, I really do. Great singer. Buuutttt, I watch Braxton Family Values. I can’t see why her life should be a biopic. No disrespect at all. I sympathize and empathize with her struggles. I just….I just don’t see her life as movie material. I’m sorry, maybe I’m wrong.

A Behind the Music special at the most.

  • I have more respect for this documentary than the Aaliyah one on Lifetime. Aaliyah’s relatives didn’t want a documentary on Lifetime, but Lifetime proceeded against Aaliyah’s family’s wishes. This documentary is executive produced by Toni Braxton, so she is dealing with it in a more involved basis. Lifetime has made many controversial and how you say disgraceful documentaries about some of the greatest performers of our generation. Hopefully, Toni Braxton’s story will be done a whole lot better than the other ones on Lifetime. I heard of Vondie Curtis-Hall too. He directed films like Gridlock’d, etc. Toni Braxton is a living legend. Her track record speaks for itself. She is close to her sisters and she overcame a lot as a human being. I don’t know what her biopic will be like, so I will wait and see what will happen. Bless Sister Toni Braxton.

Yes hopefully it will be tasteful and legit since she is involved….that disrespectful Aaliyah movie…just ugh, don’t get me started lol!

    • That Aaliyah movie on Lifetime was disrespectful. You’re not alone in your disgust of that “film.” It never focused that much on her music or on her great talent.

      Exactly Brother T!

    • We all love her music. Aaliyah was such a kind person. She had a great light.
