During last night’s airing of the Soul Train Awards, Erykah Badu introduced R. Kelly and it left me flabbergasted.
“I know they said no red cups y’all, but this man has done more for the blacks than anyone.”
“He taught how, in the name of love, to step together. He taught us to stay out that trapped closet. And he believes he can fly,” she continued.
Kelly then serenaded the crowd with “Step in the Name of Love”, “Backyard Party,” “Your Body’s Callin’,” “When a Woman’s Fed Up” and “Ignition (Remix).”
After Kelly’s performance the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
It seems as though once again, everyone has forgotten about Kelly’s fondness of young girls and the child sex abuse allegations, as well as the video of him urinating on a young girl.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why people still listen to his music, allow him to perform and act like none of this stuff has ever happened.
Needless to say, people are still blaming the girls Kelly abused for being ‘too fast’…but they’re not blaming him for being a pedophile.
We need to stop giving this man passes. And point out exactly what he is: a disgusting and vile human being.
