For the last several weeks, residents in St. Louis have been asking for answers when it comes to who has been burning down predominately Black churches. On Friday, a 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with setting fire to two of the seven churches in St. Louis.
David Lopez Jackson is facing 2 counts of second-degree arson, according to St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.
Authorities are alleging that Jackson was responsible for the fires at New Life Missionary Baptist Church and Ebenezer Lutheran Church, on Oct 17.
The forensic evidence found was linked to Jackson and his car was found in video footage, as well as a gas container in his car.
As of now, Jackson is being held on $75,000 cash bond, and is being considered a suspect in 5 other church fires.
“Certainly, there are similarities between the fires,” Dotson said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
