Listen, the BeyHive don’t play.
After Beyoncé dropped a hint on “Lemonade” about “Becky with the good hair” messing with her man, fashion designer Rachel Roy decided to “joke” about having good hair on Instagram because…who the hell knows.
But once the BeyHive found out Roy–a designer who used to be married to Jay-Z’s former biz partner Dame Dash and is rumored to have had a relationship with both men–tried to get cheeky on the ‘gram, the whole thing went way left.
Bey stans flooded Roy’s Instagram page, and even took their frustrations out on her teen daughter (totally not cool). After rumors continued to swirl that she was indeed Becky, Roy issued a statement hoping to clear everything up.
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that,” Roy said in her statement to People. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”
She continued: “Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here – the issue of cyber bullying – and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”
While Roy insists she isn’t Becky, I doubt her statement will calm the Hive.
