Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams had everyone’s undivided attention last night during his 2016 Humanitarian Award speech at the BET Awards.

An excerpt from Jesse’s speech- “And we’re done watching and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us, burying black people out of sight and out of mind, while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil — black gold. Ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them. Gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit.”

Justin Timberlake took to his Twitter to comment that he felt inspired

Following the tweet, one user called JT out for appropriating black culture and music. Justin’s response had dozens of folk up in arms.

“Oh you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye,” he tweeted back.

That’s when the responses and criticism of those responding started rolling in, including one that reminded people of that time he abandoned eft Janet Jackson in the middle of that 2004 Superbowl controversy by her lonesome.

Justin quickly sprang into damage control mode to apologize to anyone who took his message the wrong way, explain that he was misunderstood and conclude that we are all one human race.
