Doris Payne, international diamond thief, has been all over the world and to lavish areas all to steal high-profile jewelry. Payne has been arrested numerous times during, and her most recent arrest happened last week in Atlanta.
Payne, 86, was arrested by Dunwoody (Ga.) Police and charged with shoplifting for trying to steal a bracelet worth $2,000 from Von Maur at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody.
Payne was booked into the DeKalb County, Ga., jail; and is being held without bail.
Payne was the subject of The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne, which is available now on Netflix, and she told her story about how she started her life of crime that has spanned 5 decades. In total, Payne has been arrested over 20 times.
Last year, Payne was caught shoplifting a pair of $700 earrings from a Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta’s Buckhead district.
In her documentary, Payne said she took to crime to help her mother get out of an abusive relationship. She’s stolen from some of the top jewelry stores in London, Paris and Greece.
One has to wonder if she ever plans on stopping?
