Comedienne and Oscar-winning star of Daniels’ film Precious addressed rumors she had been ‘blackballed’ by Hollywood during her Pre-Mother’s Day concert at the Apollo in Harlem.
Back in 2015, Mo’Nique claimed she was blackballed in Hollywood shortly after falling out with Precious Director and Empire creator, Lee Daniels.
In a clip posted to Instagram by a fan, Mo’Nique decided to finally address her claims, calling out Lee Daniels, as well as Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
“No, I was not blackballed, I was white-balled by some black d—ks who had no balls.” “So, thank you, Mr. Lee Daniels. Thank you, Mr. Tyler Perry. Thank you, Ms. Oprah Winfrey. No, baby, I wasn’t blackballed… It would kill me not to say the real s—t. You are not paying me equally. You are not treating me fairly. Y’all could suck my d—k if I had one.”
In a sit-down with CNN’s Don Lemon in 2015, Lee claimed he didn’t stop any opportunities for Mo’Nique, but that her own attitude during awards season rubbed many in the industry the wrong way.
“During the [Oscar] campaign, she was making unreasonable demands, and I remember thinking ‘this is when reverse racism happens.’ You have to thank the producers of the film, you have to thank the studio, and she didn’t understand that. People aren’t going to respond well.”
