Once again, great arte! I love having my hair natural To me, coloring is still being natural. I am still new at this state. But I feel so much better not slaviover what to buy and ching the calender to see when I need to touch up. Ais point I have mde up my mind to try and loc. My family has been gng their comments but I listen to onlthe one who gives the best advice. Laquita!

Natural to me is un-relaxed/un-texterized/no silkener. Naturals who dye their hair are still natural and naturals who choose to straighten their hair using heat are still natural.

As a natural, I too get annoyed by the “hair nazis”.Nothing is more condescending than someone who swears they are “dropping knowledge” on people about perms. In this day and age, most people are fully aware of what relaxers are and the damages it can cause, so to each it’s own. I love my natural, but I am not my hair…I refuse to be boxed in by other people’s expectations.

I just started going natural and I hope clutch keeps on providing articles such as this because it is very helpful to me.

It is true that some “natural Sistahs” are just as critical as the women who relax their hair. It reminds me of that scene in school days when jasmine guy ‘dem were singing.

I’m currently natural (curly afro) but I’d like to add that some of our natural sisters can be Hair Nazi’s….often critical and judgemental to those who choose to wear their hair straightened/wigs/Weaves…what really counts is the person inside for I have met me some low self esteem having so called “natural” chics in my lifetime.

Just wanted to point it out there that natural doesn’t always mean beautiful from the inside out.

Natural means as close to nature as the hair you entered the world with. Unaltered, unpretentious, untouched by chemical or false character. The exception is heat, since Prometheus stole fire from Zeus to give to us mortals, I think it’s our duty to ensure that his suffering isn’t in vain.

I totally agree with Tereneh, as soon as my mother could “manage” my hair it was to the hairdresser to get it relaxed.
I am done wth Chemicals altogether, and i feel as though us black woman look at straight hair as an epitomy of beauty. And when my child is born, not a single chemical is going to touch that girls head.
I have my hair natural and its the best thing that has happened to be next to getting married to the love of my life.
