I agreed with the interview to this point:

"If we continue like this soon our babies will be born with even lesser hair than white babies and we won’t even have hair to sew a weave on."

It just does not seem to make any sense at all to me. The act that our hair is damaged through relaxers does not have anything to do with the hair on our babies head at birth.

Nonetheless, everthing else was well said! Enjoyed reading it!

I have been natural for nearly two years now and I am so happy that I made the commitment. The benefits of being natural out weight any obstacles you may face. I also wanted to add that just because one goes natural does not mean that one has to wear an afro. I have continued to wear my hair in a similar style but my it is now much healthier and fuller. Also, I never chopped all the perm off. I just make sure I keep it conditioned and trimmed.

Good Interview. I am still struggling to go natural. I am my biggest obstacle. This interview has been encouraging and perhaps I will once again attempt to go natural. I am such a punk when it comes to doing the "big chop" and too impatient to keep it braided. Lord, help me. :)

I can really relate to this article. I've been natural for 5 years and loced for 3. People (black folk) don't understand what can possess you to do that to your hair. I too didn't want to be bald and going natural was the key for me. There was always one person in my corner and that was my late great Aunt who just passed this May at 110 yrs. old and she would always tell be that this style looked good on me and people did this way back in the day. We just decided that looking white was better.

Great Interview.
