The Holiday’s Top of the Line Fragrances

Saturday Nov 15, 2008 – By Nicole Mitsch

Givenchy Pi Neo ($47.50-$64, sephora.com) Okay, okay I guess you have to get something for the man in your life. But if your going to get him something it might as well be something you can enjoy. Givenchy’s new fragrance is a great gift for him that will keep you happily snuggling up to him long after the holidays. Pi Neo plays with the limits of time, space, and matter. The cool thing is that it is inspired by the movie The Matrix. A totally futuristic, men’s fragrance that uses notes of toscanol, myrtle, cedar and patchouli to create the illusion of a virtual world. A world where your guy is innovative, scientific and precise. Maybe even a world where he gives you massages every night.

Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang ($300, esteelauder.com) This one you might have to gift to yourself. This is a warm, luminous, intimate scent that will have you wanting to curl up in your favorite sweater and blanket. The warmness comes from the richness of its amber and ylang ylang notes that combine with the luxurious depth of sandalwood and vanilla ones. And to top it all off the bottle it comes in features a cap embedded with natural semiprecious gems. The shapes of the stones on each cap are different, making each one unique. For those of us who love top of the line but need to create less of a dent in our holiday budget check out the Estée Lauder Private Collection ‘Amber Ylang Ylang’ Eau de Parfum ($65-$120). Whether pick the Pafum or the Eau De parfum you are in for a treat.

Ralph Lauren Notorious ($45-85, ralphlauren.com) This fragrance would be on any glamorous ladies gift list. Ralph Lauren Notorious is the essence of intriguing modern glamour. A fragrance of timeless intrigue and boundless desire it will be sure to cast a spell with its sparkling, spiced, alluring layers. Its sophisticated glamour at its best. The scent, a sparkling spice oriental, combines deep black currant, spiced bouquet, and decadent chocolate cosmos, sensual patchouli musk. Leaves any lady wearing it to feel daring, sexy and provocative. Mrs. Claus better watch out.

J’adore L’absolu Solid Perfume ($82, saksfifthavenue.com) This fragrance is for the modern women who loves the finer things in life and doesn’t apologize for it. Its a solid perfume that marries the high-end pafumage of ‘adore L’absolu with the luxurious look of a reassured possession. J’adore L’Absolu is enriched with real Jasmine flowers with notes of rose, tuberose and ylang-ylang. A stand out fragrance this holiday season.

Fendi Palazzo Shine ($65, neimanmarcus.com) A perfect gift for the women in your life that you know love to shine. Fendi Palazzo Shine is sparkling scent that features top notes of Cedrat middle notes of Neroli and base notes of Patchouli and Sandalwood for a fresher lighter take on the original scent. Shine can be described as a fresh new serious scent that stays crisp and clean for a long time.

Pearls by Carol’s Daughter ($40, carolsdaughter.com) This fragrance is for someone you know that loves Carol’s Daughter hair and body products. Pearls is Carols Daughter’s first fine fragrance and it was well worth the wait. This timeless, elegant fragrance uses layered notes cried from an inspired by nature. Pearl combines natures best which includes bergamot, lemon, anise, peach, apricot vanilla, jasmine and caramel. It is something is something truly unique and different but still familiar.

I love to wear warm scents during the winter months. Thanks for the tips. The Estee Lauder and the Solid Perfume both sound really good. The cheaper Estee that is . :)
