Sew Pretty
Sew Pretty’s goal is to offer accessories to the woman who wants a conversation piece rather than a status piece” states Raquel Caruso, the creative force behind Sew Pretty, a line of vintage chic handbags that we can’t get enough of. The Dominican born designer draws inspiration from seemingly ordinary objects, like flowers and vintage buttons, to create bags that are fun and distinctive.
Raquel considered many different career paths including writing, modeling and business, before venturing into handbag design. Shortly after the birth of her first son, Caruso indulged her creative whims in a period dubbed as the “Experimenting Years” where she rediscovered her love of fashion and officially launched Sew Pretty in the Spring of 2004.
Sew Pretty is currently comprised of a collection of handcrafted bags, totes, clutches and belts. Raquel hopes to open a flagship store and expand the line into a full range of handbags and accessories offered in leather and various exotic materials. Each fabulous piece is designed with a story and particular woman in mind. When asked who the Sew Pretty woman is Raquel offers the following, “She is confident, open, bold and creative. She is not afraid of mixing styles and is not shy with colors. She is delicate but never plain. She knows what she likes and knows how to get it.” We can relate.
