I think Mrs. Obama is the realest most grounded women to ever be in the Whire House; but, that does not mean that I think that she is anywhere close to being a fashion icon. From what I have seen she has had some hits and some misses.

Michelle is a attractive woman, and so her face saves her. Her hair am makeup is always on point, but her fashion selections are so crazy sometimes. And, her shape is not taken into consideration. While she is a Intelligent and powerful woman, I don't believe that we should put her on a pedestal, and say that she is on point in every area, and that she can do no wrong, because in fashion she does!

She is not always on point, but fashion is not that important. So if she is off in that area, which sometime she is WAAAAAY off. It is not that serious.

I agree with the person who said that her clothing gets more attention than what she has done in her lifetime! Yes, she's a tall, stylish, beautiful woman -- however, she went to Harvard for crying out loud! Our culture is so obsessed with how one looks or what one wears, that we rarely get past that. She's got a great head on her shoulders, is a fabulous mother, and is very, very smart. We should be celebrating that, not the fact that she shops at J. Crew!

If you've lived in D.C., you know that it's an environment where African American women of a "certain age" can be ruthless in their criticism of any newcomer that breaks their fashion rules. Along comes Mrs. Obama with her own youthful styles, her choices of lesser known, but great, designers, and the confidence to shop somewhere other than the D.C. staples like Neiman's, Saks, Rizik's, and Saks Jandel. Hurray for her!!!!! Kudos to her!!! She has the credentials, the looks, and the self-confidence to pull it off, and is not consumed about what "they" will think. Although I enjoy seeing how she
turns herself out, you know that the clothing racks are not all she's about and I love it. This article says so very much about all of these things and poses some provocative questions (asked and un-asked) about whether we wear our clothes or if our clothes wear us. As usual Chelsea has her own spin on things and she usually hits the nail on the head in her articles. Keep on keepin' on!

Michelle Obama is refreshing in her approach to maintaining her own style. The last thing we need in the white house is another stuffy tight-faced lady clutching her pearls; in a bland below the knee suit, looking like a reject from the Nancy Regan fan club. She is smart, beautiful and best of all her own woman. As a designer her choices are FABULOUS!!!

She is a breath of fresh air! I love the way she mixes high end pieces with something that you can run to the mall or visit a web site and have within hours. I think she will become a fashion First Lady Icon! Michele O!
