Rachel Roy: The Philosophy of Sophistication
When I think of Rachel Roy three words come to mind: beautiful, engaging and impeccable. The masses may know Mrs. Roy from her significant other Mr. Damon Dash, but those in the fashion world have been following this classic fashionista way before she was attached to the hip-hop mogul. Driven and intelligent, Rachel started her career as a fashion stylist for major magazines, music videos, and eventually became the Creative Director for the Women’s and Children’s Division of Rocawear.
In 2005, Rachel Roy launched her stunning collection. Her contribution to the fashion industry gained her rave reviews from socialites of all backgrounds. The Rachel Roy Collection is for the modern urban woman; her collection can be worn by anyone who wants to maintain effortless sophistication.
About the Collection:
The Rachel Roy Collection has an international appeal. Fabrics and textures enrich a natural color palette. Combined with modern silhouettes the collection is defined by lightness, comfort and purity. It is this philosophy that continues to redefine modern fashion and brings comfortable, yet elegant sophistication to new generations.
Rachel Roy is widely perceived as one of the most refined women in fashion today and her collection embodies this allure, which has earned the respect and esteemed recognition of the global fashion community.
The Rachel Roy Collection is carried at the finest retailers in North America including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, shopbop.com, and rachelroy.com

*numbers 2, 5, 8, and 15* really piqued my interest. i dress down mostly or sport the business casual look all too often, but these pieces really had me lifting my right eyebrow. Ms. Roy has stellar taste. good write-up.
why do all of these models look so lifeless and tired like they are bored w/ the styles they were given to model and why do they have the same shoe in every picture. i’m really not pleased with the collection it seems like her goal is to hide the womenly figure.
I just don’t understand the trend of these rap moguls “marrying” fashionistas! is that the criteria to get half of and empire??? Some of her fashions are cool but most are frumpy, and the shiloettes are just not bangin’ the did what for Rocawear??!
I’ve been watching Rachel Roy for a few years now and I’m pleasantly surprised by this new unveiling. Most of her collections are so minimal that they often look like potato sacks in either white, black or navy. She’s finally injected some color into her designs and the patterns and lines are minimal yet wearable for us “urban girls” who like to add a little soul to our wardrobe. She’s ALMOST there but she still is trying to hard to be “Classic and Timeless” instead of letting the designs flow!
I see so much of her stuff at discount retailers that it makes me wonder what her actual sales are like.

I think Rachel Roy has amazing style and elegance, I love the way she envisions clothes that flatter and slim a womans body, and even better the way she executes the design, I enjoy her collections.
I am not impressed with her designs.
I think that with her Pre Collection Spring 2009, she is coming along. I concur with others that there were in times past when I felt she was trying to hard to create her vision , but with a little bit of maturity , she is almost there. I am feeling the Blythe Pleated Top Dress, which I think is very sexy with a touch of demure to it. She is on her way.
