This beautiful Georgetown University grad jumped into the music scene with her 2002 hit “Why Don’t We Fall in Love.” When her album, All I Have finally released her single, it had already reached the Top 20 of the R&B/hip-hop charts. Her follow–up album, Touch had us singing…it was just “One Thing” about that guy that had you doing things you know you shouldn’t be doing. Now Ms. Amerie is releasing her third album, Because I Love It.
There is gossip all over the Internet saying that Amerie is beefing with Beyonce for jacking Amerie’s vocal style. Amerie even put out a mixtape where she disses some (some say it’s B.) for being a “swagger jacker” – remember it’s gossip!
Amerie is not only known for her voice, but for her fashion sense. Amerie is definitely a style maven. She is always seen rocking trends and the season must-haves far before we see it in our favorite magazines or music videos. Amerie is the definition of the Clutch woman: smart, beautiful, diverse and fly.

here, here!
i’ve always loved her style.
Amerie is very talented. I still think people are sleeping on her!
She has style but no talent she needs to give it up
Bottom line this lady has been underated, I take her CD’s over Beyonce’s anyday!
I still bump her first album at least once a week. She has an incredibly strong voice and her style is impeccable!
Amerie has been looked over for far to long…..it’s about time she gets some recognition for her style, beauty, and song…
There is really no comparison between Amerie and Beyonce. Amerie has a college education along with a college degree. Beyonce barely has a high school education judging on her inability to articulate. Amerie has her OWN HAIR, Beyonce is the queen of weave. Beyonce tries too hard to be sexy, Amerie has that classy, coy thing goong for her. And Beyonce is a MAJOR SWAGGER JACKER.
I love her!I can’t wait till her album comes out.Heard a couple snippets and I’m impressed not with just her voice but the lyrics-especially to Paint Me Over. She is under-rated and probably will be since we in the Beyonce’s World.
FYI amerie has no weave because she is Haf Korean…Its not Beyonces fault…I am glad she is under rated she is boring!!
To Above user,
So what does that mean that Amerie is mixed? Amerie even admitted to using extensions in her hair.
Shoot EVERYONE uses weave, not matter if you are mixed or not.
So, I love, love, love Amerie. I still listen to her first album and I have a playlist on my iPOD with Touch and All I Have….I have even downloaded Take Control off the new album. B has a stronger voice and clearly did jack Amerie’s style…I mean damn B find ur own swag!! But ugh, I def listen to my girl A way before B(did you get that?…A comes before B…hahahaha) Sometimes B is so tremendously CORNY!!! esp Freakum Dress
That was cute…A comes before B!! I don’t care what anyone says, Amerie’s first album was tight and will always be a classic in my book. I’m not saying that I don’t like Beyonce’ or anything, it’s just that you always know what to expect from her…
I agree @ 11 and 12
Amerie first album was real good to me too.She is under rated. And I’m glad that Amerie is not like Beyonce’ because they are both talented but we already know what to expect from Beyonce it’s not even surprising no more.Amerie music is real.I can’t wait to hear the whole “Paint Me Over.” I’m Team A all the way!
Amerie does indeed have extensions. Just because one is mixed doesn’t automatically mean she has “Barbie” hair. She also got a nose job after her 1st CD, so I guess being mixed doesn’t mean you get a perky nose either.
I think she’s pretty but boring.
It seems like I’m the only one who loves Amerie and her uptempo songs. Underrated and poorly managed is how I would describe her career. Her songs are popular but no one still seems to know who she is. With Ashanti havin label problems, and Brandy and Monica falling off, Amerie could’ve (should’ve) been more popular since no one really dominated the airwaves until Beyonces’ 2nd album came out (which I love)
Easily better than Cassies debut.
What’s up with the album release? It was supposed to be out in July, and its already out in Europe. I should’ve bootlegged it when I had the chance!
I remember when I first saw the “Why Don’t we Fall in Love” video and thinking she was the most gorgeous black woman I had ever seen.
What I like about her is that she represents a side of Black beauty that wasn’t seen in the industry — a biracial Black beauty who looked like the intelligent and fly girl on the HBCU campus.
I’m sick of her, she has no talent, it’s true, she has a great voice, but all the so called hits she made have been mostly cover songs, and they’re frustrating to hear especially when she only writes like 4 lines and repeats it over and over and over again!!!! Very pretty lady, mind you.
Everyone in the biz wears some for of extentions…pieces…wigs. INCLUDING Amerie. She has long hair naturally yes, but she is biracial and even though she is Korean that doesn’t mean oh she’s half asians it’s all hers. there are Asians that cant grown hair down to her ass. And contrary to popular belief Beyonce has decent length hair too past her shoulder and almost to her bra-line if straightened. Even Kimora Lee Simmons wears a weave…remember that blond hair? You really this she tramatized her hair lke that? Plus Kimora is bi-racial too.
Sleep on that
