maybe most of you ladies are of a earlier generation, or reside in a different region of the country, but intercultural marriage is rampant where i live. my husband and i noticed in our community there are loads of educated black women married to educated white men, about thirty miles away, in the hood all the black men are with white women, not that i care its simply something my husband notice, and our observation is supported by point number 3 of the article. i don't think its that men of other race don't want us, in fact as someone who as spent far mor time around white and other ethnicities, than i have african americans, they want us, and not as some exoticize fantasy, or late night booty-call, but as wives and the mother of their children, they think we don't want them, and there is the penis thing. it was actually black guys who didn't want me growing up. i was too skinny, too quiet, too nerdy, and "funny- Actin'"!!! besides i am a cuddler.i like to baby and nurture my man,and i need love and affection. i am sure there are loving, kind black men out there, its just in my 23 very long and exhausting years, i have only met two, a boyfriend i had my freshman year, who decided that impressing the ghetto kids from the hood was more important then remaining on honor roll, the varsity basketball team, the honor society, and student council, and my step dad!!!

I am so sick of black women waiting on the one black men to complete her. A man is a man, they all have their endearing qualities and they all have their infuriating drawbacks. I feel so many black women are closing the door to men of other races and are going to keep doing it until they are so lonely that they decide to peek behind the door and realize that no one is there. My relationship with a man of another race, isnt what is bringing down the black man. Im all for helping out community but not at the sacrifice of my love and happiness.

So sad but so true. We have a massive emergency - for some reason Black men are not trying to marry us. The stats on single and unwed black women are disgusting.

Ma Red: "I SAY: It’s not that black women don’t want to date outside their race, but it’s more that the other races don’t really want them."

That's interesting...a study should be done on the interracial mingling by U.S. regions...I'll guess that the Northeast and the Northwest are the least likely to engage in interracial dating. I am from Chicago, and it is not uncommon at all for a white male to approach a black female...but as the article said, we generally aren't interested.

Kwana R.: "I’m keeping the faith cause what the LORD has for me no stat could ever negate!!!!!"

You ain't never lied girl! AMEN to that!

Lord help us....is all I can say. That article is on point and one the few differences between the DC metropolitain and ATL is the area code...there are just sooo many men with proclivities for other men in both these regions I wonder if there is something in the water, but yet and still pursue women...sad, scary, but true.

I can only put it in the Lords hands to send me my KING and know that I am being prepared as I wait on the LORD and don't have to settle for something I'll end up resenting.

Beauty is beauty and men of other races are are very much attracted, I think just sometimes intimidated and I just don't know if I could seriously go there..like the author said maybe if it were someone like Hugh Jackman or David Beckham or even Orlando Bloom etc it might be on LOL but the avearge white dude is far from the ones I listed.

B -- white men look at me in the store all the time; one even followed me out the store, but it stopped there. I think they think "maybe..." but never go all the way for fear of being shun by their friends and family. I wouldn't have a problem dating whtie men at all.

As for black men needing us now more than ever-- that may be the case, but here in New England it is so prevalent how many of them are overlooking black women just because they are black. It's like it's "in" to date anyone other than black. I don't get it. I will see some black men go out of their way NOT to look at a attractive black girl just because they are in that mindset that they are over black girls or that they can do better than black. Aaaugh

Ma Red, I will have to totally disagree with you. I am a professional African-American woman and I, as well as most of my professional friends, always meet successful White men that would like to date us. Although I am not the least bit attracted to most White men, I would have to say that they are usually very sure of what they want in a woman and very open to marriage. They also understand the importance of family and the financial, "wealth-building" benefits of marriage.

I also agree with Enamored in that "black men need us now more than ever", I just wish they could see it...
