I am really happy Clutch is bringing these types of subjects to discussion but this is insulting and it would have never been posted if it was on another religion. I love this site and all that comes with it, but the way she was painted as a hero of some sort was really disappointing.

I, too, read her book and it is easily one of the best I have ever read. I recommend it to all. She is an amazing woman with an amazing story and I am so excited Clutch got to interview her.

"And interesting how her stance, while championing feminism and human rights, also plays well into neo-con criticisms/fears of Islamic fundamentalism. Fox News was eating this up, no?"

Very good point Aj. I would recommend that people read Laila Lalami's article in The Nation for a much more nuanced view on the subject. http://www.thenation.com/doc/20060619/lalami

All I can say is wow her courage is truly remarkable and I admire her for it. From an asylum seeker to MP that is amazing. And I appreciate that she isn't cowering in fear and still speaking out against mistreatment of women in the name of religion.

Wow. Very powerful piece.

I respect her opinions and agree with several of them. I just hope she remains safe and is happy in her current state.
