this is so great. i dont have a problem doing things alone, although doing them alone at nite is a little threatening to me. my self-confidence hasnt yet reached its fullest potential. lol. but i will most definitely consider the craigslist option. many of my friends here in chicago often fake me out, especially for their boyfriends. now i can find wing-women who are interested in hanging out just like me!

That was a really interesting article. I often find myself longing to go out with friends and just like the writer, they’re never available. I’m a shy person so the thought of going somewhere like that to entertain myself is quite scary. I hope I can muster up the strength and just do it, myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

This was so motivating for me. Even if summer’s over and I’m back on the grind, I plan on taking some (baby) steps into just exploring the city I live in and meeting new kids to see it with. I’m ridiculously shy but I don’t want to regret it later on in my life.

Great article!!… When friends aren’t available, I’ll go WITH myself, never one to shy away from striking a conversation with others. You will be surprised how many people are simply out just to have a good time and enjoy the company of others. NO strings attached.

My granny always encouraged us grandkids to “get off the block.” The world is so vast, and we truly expand ourselves by seeing, meeting, and learning through intimate and distant ‘friendships’. After being married, and finding myself alone in that relationship, I decided to start traveling-alone. I still get the random comment, “you went there by yourself????? Were you scared? Did you eat alone?” Yea, at first I was scared, but I decided that I either would learn to be happy, expanding ME, whether I was in a relationship or not. Taking that small step led to me being interesting, not just interested. I encourage women (and men) to live….do the things alone that you want to experience ‘with that special someone’. I think it just adds a whole other dimension to the person you already are.

Great article. While I don’t find it that daunting to go out alone when I can’t find friends interested in something that I want to check out. It is a bit encouraging that there are people looking for platonic relationships to enjoy or explore new scenes and cultural dynamics with. On that note anyone want to Check out the upcoming Cut N Paste competition in NY? lol, but really ;-)
