Why I Don’t Give A S**T About Amber Rose

Whether it is a picture of her leaving a restaurant, shopping with her rapper beau or simply walking down the damn street. You cannot escape the force that is…. Amber Rose. I want to start off by saying that I have very little interest in this woman. In fact I hesitated on writing this post because I see the hypocrisy in it so save the insolent comments. However, I decided to proceed because there were a few things on my mind concerning her and naturally I want to do it for my own shits and giggles. Oh, and yours as well. As I previously mentioned, you cannot visit any blog/website whether it be urban or mainstream without a mention of this now celebrious woman. I’m not hating but, we know nothing about her besides the glammed pictures. Soooo, why should I give a s**t? Hence the reason why I named this article “Why I Don’t Give a S**t About Amber Rose”. Preliminaries aside, let’s begin the rundown of my reasons.

1. She has done absolutely nothing that we know of besides being Kanye’s Girlfriend.
Sure, she does a weekly catwalk for us in her trendsetting outfits but other than that she offers us nothing more than eye candy. She does not entertain us in any manner. She does not sing, dance, rap, act; hell I have barely heard her speak to know if she possesses a Cheetos puff worth of intellect. I don’t understand the allure. Is it because she is bald and does not give a s**t who likes it or not? As of yet, we have only seen her pose for the camera. My question is what else does she have to offer? The one time I have heard her speak was on an interview with Angela Yee’s Lip Service Radio Show and from what I could gather she is a free spirit. You know the type who wants everyone around them to be them, which is cool and all but what else is there?

2. We Only Care About Her Because Of Kanye
It is no secret that we are only talking about her because she is dating Kanye West. It is amazing how one can gain fame and fortune from simply dating a celebrity and doing nothing more. Literally, she does nothing else. Are we so bored with our choices of celebrities that we will create one? It is no longer enough for someone to genuinely work hard at a craft or art and garner fame. Now, you can boink one of the biggest rap stars and voila! You’re a celebrity. I guess Twista and Kanye were not lying when they said they could make a chick a celebrity overnight.

3. Does The Media Tell Us To Like Her Or Have We Told The Media That We Like Her? Hmmm
It is amazing how much control the media has over us. Some think that the media is indirectly telling us what to want or not want, who to like or not like. What annoys me is that they are so whimsical with this s**t. A blow in the wind and now you have magically been transformed into the S**T (resounding voice). Amazingly, we went from hating on her to glorifying her. Just months ago it was “who is this bald head girl Kanye is hanging with? She dresses funny. She looks like a man.” Presto Chango, now it is “Amber Rose, did you see her? Look what she has on. She is such a style icon. Wow, she has an amazing body. She is so edgy. Eww!” See how easy it is for the media to manipulate us? Months ago no one really gave two farts in the wind about Amber Rose and now, she is on the majority of the most popular blog sites damn near daily. What did she do in the meantime to deserve this attention and praise you ask? Not a damn thing. Moving on..

4. All We Ever Hear About Her Is Negative
The few things that I have heard about her have had a negative spin to them. One being that she is bisexual. To each their own and I don’t think this is necessarily a negative but some people dislike her simply because the girl said in an interview that she likes to perform oral on other women. Whatever works for you dear. Another story I have heard was that she was a stripper. People are quick to pass judgment on people who work in the adult entertainment industry. Even if they secretly enjoy it they still pass judgment on its affiliates. While out in public that is. I also heard a rumor that she is dumb as a box of rocks. Media Takeout posted a piece about how a supposed “friend “of Amber’s contacted them and told them that Amber has never been a very smart girl and that Kanye treats her like dog s**t. There was also a rumor of her having a son who she is said to barely spend time with. I don’t know what the girl does in her spare time so I won’t judge but they do pose an interesting case when we constantly see her cascading around town childless. This might be done purposely to avoid having him in the limelight as well. The newest rumor was that her ass wasn’t really her a**. She supposedly got a** shots to increase its fullness. They even took the time to post before and after pictures. Who knows how much truth there is to any of these rumors but the point is that they either speak negatively about her as a person while complimenting her on her outfit. In fact the only positive thing I have ever seen written about her is the post that was titled “ What Women Can Learn From Amber Rose”. I forget where I saw this but it gave a list of different reasons we should admire her. Admire what? I don’t get it. Finally, in her interviews sex seems to be one of the main topics. The interviewee always finds a way to work that in because they know she will speak on it freely, which is fine, but there has to be a balance. Otherwise we are left asking the question, “What else does she have to offer?” If I have to be forced to see her on every website can we at least learn something positive and new about her? For instance, does she give to charity? Or, what are her hobbies? Hell, does she like cheese on her bologna sandwiches? Something besides the constant photos of her strolling down the street a’ la’ Rihanna or pictures of her with paparazzi hating Kanye on a sandy beach in Cancun.

5. Dare I Say That Her Relationship With Kanye Is A… Sham!
I try not to be one to overly judge the choices of others romantically but isn’t it odd that as the rumors of Kanye being gay began to rear their rainbow colored head he pops up with a new chick? Also, aside from the rumors of him being gay Kanye is not a topic in the headline right now. Suddenly he comes with this new chick on his arm who is the polar opposite from all of the previous women he has been seen with! She is a fashionista, she is bold with her appearance, and she likes to lay on the beach with her titties hanging out. Who is this woman? Pat on the back for Kanye for banging her! Suddenly Kanye’s name is on the tip of every media outlets tongue again. There are some individuals who believe that Kanye and Amber’s relationship is concocted to garner him publicity and her a check. I am not implying that I am completely convinced of that. However, I am also not completely convinced of the counter. After all, this is Hollywood.

Interesting read. I myself have questioned the instant celebrity status of a few people. For instance, where did Kim Kardashian come from? She became a media darling with the Ray J sex tape and befriending Paris Hilton but now we are subjected to watching the entire Kardashian clan and their show is incredibly successful. Go figure! But I digress, back to Amber and how she Rose Kanye West’s stock in the public eye. To me, she is Kanye’s most noticeable accessory. It isn’t about the typical rapper’s delight in which they brag about the bank, cars, or houses in their music; it’s all about his muscle…Ms. Rose. Amber pushs the envelop with her barely-there-hair and skintight clothing. She is a beautiful woman and we (the public) are bewitched with attractive people which is how they stumble into becoming overnight sensations. Sex is always a bestseller and Amber exudes a sexual prowess that even a blind person could see. So she tantalizes the cameras and I have yet to see a bad shot of her parading around. Whether she is frolicking topless on the beach or has Kanye’s hand indecently groping her publicly, she delivers it to the media and we are soaking it all up. Kanye did have other public relationships with women who looked ordinary, like the girl around the corner.They didn’t feed into the media the way Amber does which is why we barely noticed their presence. So I don’t blame you for not giving a hoot but unfortunately Amber is going to be around for a long time, whether she’s with Kanye or not. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets her own reality show soon!

I am sick of Amber Rose. I agree…why is she in the media ALL the time. She really does nothing. A lot of the blogs I read on the daily post pics of her….It’s getting old. Before it was like who is this weird chick?..then its like OMG how beautiful…she’s a ford model now!

I don’t know. People are just bored with their lives and hers (even though we know nothing about) is more interesting. and let’s be honest….sex sells…so that’s what people want to see and hear. amber is purely sex.

Out of all the excellent articles on this site – they do a article by a “contributor” not even a Clutch writer for entertainment and they are out to destroy black women and make us look bad. Just stop it. Also, I like it that they spice it up every now and then. If I was Clutch I would close this site down and let people like you try to find another alternative and see how that works.

Lol. Lacy, they could shut down whenever they want. There are PLENTY of alternatives to Clutch magazine which I check much more frequently than this one.

And if this is from a regular Clutch writer or not, it still reflects on Clutch itself. Why would they post an article from a contributor that they didn’t agree with? And there have been quite a few “I don’t care for so-and-so” articles post on Clutch lately and it’s just tired. That’s what gossip mags are for.

I don’t agree with that Lisa. I love Clutch and I haven’t seen or read anything like it. But, I think we do have to look at the full range of the content of the site – it’s more positive than negative. Lots of great articles in my opinion. I also see they are trying to reach all women and for some women this is up their alley. I liked the piece. lol It’s not that deep to me. But to each it’s own. If you feel like you don’t like Clutch I say stop coming.

Far from a gossip mag or site. They did why are they famous and this one and maybe 1-2 others. I think it’s unfair to put them in a gossip category when they do 5-6 articles out of 100’s that are positive, eyeopening and inspiring.

Thank you! This article is dumb long….if the writer wasn’t concerned about this insignificant subject of this article there would be far less if anything at all to be said about her. This dissection is proof that as much as we- black women would like to think we are too good to consider the impact of such women on our perceptions of beauty and of ourselves…no one is untouchable, we have insecurities like everyone else. If your in NYC…there is a great exhibition up in Brooklyn that has an audio work that relates directly to this called Dawning of A New Day: Perspectives on Black America its at the Brooklyn artist gym at 168 7th street btween 2nd and 3rd ave on the 3rd flr (bklyn ny 11215), the name of the work is “Auto-Portraits”.

You know what…I agree that yes, Amber is famous for being with Kanye BUT if anyone of you were given the opportunity in any way to come up….YOU WOULD TAKE IT! I’m not saying that you have to be a bi-sexual stripper to do so but if your opp (in whatever it is that you love/want to do) came to you as easy as dating the “key to your door”, you would jump at it….those that say they wouldn’t are blatant liars.

Sign of the times.
The majority of minds in the current generation accept what they’re given. If we don’t actively seek what we truly enjoy, we’ll be told what to enjoy.

There are an incredible amount of indie artists that come bearing catalysts for community evolution, that get no love from the mainstream or the sheeple, and therefore only affect a small group of appreciators.

I realize that if it weren’t for her complexion and/or race, mainstream could give two shits about how edgy she is. This girl has been signed to the premiere model agency(FORD), and has been featured in Elle. If a black female(non-celeb) with no talent, had the same body type, edginess, and style; Ford AND Elle wouldn’t look twice at her. It’s the same with that damn Armenian chick. I think the allure of Amber Rose is the fact that we don’t know anything about her, and it creates mystery. I personally don’t care for her too much one way or the other, at first I thought she was interesting because she seemed so crass but now I’m like whatever.

Amber Rose’s rise to popularity shows that it doesn’t take much to become famous these days. I think it’s possible to take the notoriety and make something out of it, like a Prince/Appollonia type situation. Actually, the Amber Rose/Kanye dynamic is very much like Prince & Appollonia.

Amber Rose is representative of our culture. We put people with zero talent and lots of good looks on a pedestal. I personally think she pushes the fashion envelope and is a walking conversation piece. I like Amber. She has seized an opportunity and made the best of it so far. Last weekend she was in Atlanta and reportedly earned $10,000 to host a party. Not bad work if you can get it. She’s done spreads in Elle and Complex and a few more mags.

I guess everyone would have been happy if all she did was hang around Kanye? But then she’d be called a gold-digger.

Anyway Amber is beautiful and seems like a cool person, so I wish her luck.

But I disagree. We don’t just care abotu her because she’s Kanye’s girlfriend. Truly his ex girlfriend didn’t get all this attention and she was actually doing something with herself.

This was the most inconsistent, badly written, pointless piece of ‘journalism’ that I, and I’m sure many others on this site, have read in a very long time.

The author begins with a subject that has no merit in exploring in the first place, only to embarrass herself by clearly pointing out just how unsatisfied she is with herself in order to have to (unsuccessfully) attempt to pick apart the target, Amber Rose. A personality with, from what we can tell, has perhaps little depth but has still managed to catch our attention with unique aspects of her.

The very eloquent title is “Why I Don’t Give a Shit About Amber Rose”, and if my comment had to have a title, it would be “Why Does this Author Give So Much Shit for Amber Rose that She Would Bother to Write a Whole Article About Her?”.

This is exactly the kind of useless, ignorant, undereducated crap that is going against what I thought the whole purpose of this website was; to uplift women. The author, along with many of her other articles, were perhaps intended to add a controversial, humorous twist, but instead are very clearly bring down the quality of this entire website. The article did not uplift women; it put down one woman (Amber Rose), made a fool of another (the author) and underestimating the intelligence of the rest (Clutch’s readers, or what may be left of them).

I love Clutch and had high hopes for it. I hope I can sustain those hopes.

Thanks for your comment. This is Dede. I just find it crazy that when we do do articles like this our readers flock to it. The question is why do some many people want to comment on these type of articles? Out of the hundreds of uplifting articles we do, most go to 5-8 articles TOTAL ( I can provide a list of the Clutch ‘controversial’ articles) we have allowed to be published on our site or written — their comments are out of control.

For instance take this week, out of the 6 articles we published this week – this was the only “wild card” and look at the comments and attention people have placed on it. Now, that’s sad.

We are a young, diverse and complex group here at Clutch. In our weekly meetings we question if people really want to read positivity or something risky and/or can be taken as negative to some. Cause traffic and comments are always up when articles like this arise and that disappoints US!

I challenge you all to look through our content and start supporting all the positive content we have and are known for. But, it seems the only time we get this is when we write or allow an article to be published like this. And our aim is not to garner comments in articles like this – it’s for entertainment/ an commentary piece. Someone is stating their opinion.
