Queen Latifah: “I Don’t Care If People Think I’m Gay”
Get it straight: Queen Latifah is not answering your questions about her sexuality. “I don’t have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life,” Latifah, 38, told Sunday’s New York Times magazine. “You don’t get that part of me. Sorry,” she added. “We’re not discussing it in our meetings, we’re not discussing it at Cover Girl…nobody gets that. “I don’t feel like I need to share my personal life, and I don’t care if people think I’m gay or not,” she said. “Assume whatever you want. You do it anyway.” (Continue Reading..)
Michigan Public Schools Accused of Segregation
Ferndale Public Schools officials are trying to combat allegations by a vocal civil rights group that it is segregating black students from Detroit at the district’s University High School, a college-preparatory school opened four years ago. About 78% of the 418 students who attend University High are from Detroit, and nearly all of them are black. Because it is a specialty school, designed to prepare all of its students for college, it doesn’t have the traditional components of a high school, such as a full offering of sports, elective classes and extracurricular activities. The group, By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), said those differences have created a two-tiered system in the district, with University High students receiving fewer educational opportunities than those at Ferndale High School. Michelle Obama Not Offended by ‘That One’ Comment
The wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told CNN’s Larry King on Wednesday that she is not offended by a much-publicized comment made toward her husband in Tuesday night’s debate. In the presidential matchup at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, GOP nominee John McCain criticized his Democratic rival for supporting the 2007 Bush-Cheney energy bill. “It was an energy bill on the floor of the Senate, loaded down with goodies, billions for oil companies, and it was sponsored by Bush and Cheney. … You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one,” he said, gesturing toward Obama. “You know who voted against it? Me.” (Continue Reading….)

WORD QUEEN LATIFAH!!!!
Being from the Detroit area…let me just say this: BAMN is full of shit. If they really cared, they would be working to get other schools in the area up to par. By educating the children instead of teaching them its ok to just coast along in college because of an athletic scholarship makes the school something excellent. I can tell you, I know so many people from the local counties that figured their athletic talent was going to take them far (including my cousin, who was playing college basketball until he got injured). Injuries happen, and careers end early. Seriously, they need to get it together. Thats what the problem is out here: nobody takes real academia seriously.
Sorry, just had to vent.
But yea, kudos to Queen!
