Henson on hosting ‘Soul Train Awards’
When the call came to host the 2009 ‘Soul Train Awards,’ Taraji P. Henson didn’t believe the show’s producers had the right person. “I wasn’t sure that it was correct and that they were actually calling me,” she confessed to BV Newswire. “They had the idea of Terrence [Howard]and then I was like, ‘That works.’ I just liked the feeling from the beginning.” The ‘Soul Train Awards’ marks the first time the ‘Hustle and Flow’ duo have teamed up since filming the John Singleton-helmed ‘Four Brothers’ back in 2005 in Toronto, but the two have remained close over the years, Henson said. Oprah gets steamy with HBO
Oprah Winfrey has a surprising project in the works. Her Harpo Films has made a deal with HBO to team on a sexually charged hourlong series pilot about a woman who leaves her seemingly perfect marriage and children in Santa Monica for the underbelly of L.A., where she indulges her secret fantasies and desires. Pilot is being written by Erin Cressida Wilson, best known for writing 2002 indie pic “Secretary,” which starred James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal film in the story of a boss-secretary relationship that veers into S&M. Winfrey and Harpo Films president Kate Forte will be executive producers along with Wilson. The pilot is a high priority at the pay web. The idea was hatched by Forte, who pitched it to HBO prexy Sue Naegle right after Harpo made a deal to generate series and miniseries. (Continue Reading…)
Police to talk to Woods about early morning crash
There are plenty of vivid details from the car crash that sent Tiger Woods to the hospital: His SUV hit a fire hydrant and a tree; his lips were cut and he had blood in his mouth; his wife smashed a rear window with a golf club to get him out; he briefly lost consciousness. There are also plenty of questions, among them: Where was he going at 2:25 a.m. Friday? Why was there no word from the Woods’ camp for nearly 13 hours after the accident? Police hope Woods can answer some of them Saturday. Two troopers tried to talk to the world’s No. 1 golfer Friday evening, but his wife said he was sleeping and they agreed to come back Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.
