Gabrielle Union Developing New NBC Series
Gabrielle Union and X-Files writer/producer Frank Spotnitz are reteaming to develop a new series for NBC. The duo, which worked together on ABC’s short-lived Night Stalker during the 2005-2006 TV season, is developing a procedural for the Peacock, according to Variety. Spontitz will write the show and Union, best known for her role in Bring It On, will star as a detective who must race to save someone’s life before it’s too late. The project is a collaboration by Union and Spotnitz and will be produced by Universal Media Studios. (Continue Reading…)

Jennifer Hudson’s Brother-in-Law Arrested for Family Murders
Police arrested the estranged brother-in-law of Jennifer Hudson on Monday in the shooting deaths of the entertainer’s mother, brother and young nephew, taking him from a prison where he had been held on a suspected parole violation. William Balfour, 27, was arrested at Stateville Correctional Center on a warrant accusing him of murdering the relatives of the singer and Oscar-winning actress, said Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond. Until Monday, police had identified Balfour only as a “person of interest” in the investigation. He had not been formally charged as of Monday night, said Tandra Simonton, spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.(Continue Reading…)

Ex-Mayoral Aide Pleads Guilty in Detroit Scandal
Christine Beatty, chief of staff for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, pleaded guilty Monday to charges stemming from their text-messaging sex scandal case and will serve four months in jail, according to the Wayne County prosecutor’s office. Beatty pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice, according to Maria Miller, the prosecutor’s spokeswoman. Charges of perjury and misconduct against Beatty will be dropped as part of the plea arrangement, she said. (Continue Reading…)

    Wow, it’s pretty sad that Gabrielle Union’s best, brightest role so far has been for Bring it On… Maybe also her reoccurring character on Ugly Betty, but I don’t know. I stopped watching that a while ago..
