R&B Singer Sean Levert Dies At 39
Sean Levert, a third of the 1980s R&B trio LeVert and son of lead O’Jays singer Eddie Levert, has died after falling ill while serving a jail term. He was 39. Authorities said Monday that an autopsy was inconclusive but foul play was ruled out. Levert was sentenced last week to one year and 10 months in jail for failing to pay $89,025 in child support. He died at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland late Sunday, less than an hour after he was taken there from the jail, said coroner Frank Miller. (Continue Reading…)
HUD chief resigns amid ethics investigations
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson resigned Monday, amid multiple ethics investigations and criticism from top lawmakers. Jazz singer Nancy Wilson hospitalized for treatment of a collapsed lung
Jazz singer Nancy Wilson is in hospital for treatment of a collapsed lung. A spokeswoman for the 71-year-old Grammy-winning singer says she is expected to recover but will not be able to make a performance scheduled in Memphis, Tennessee next weekend. Devra Levy, wife of Wilson’s manager, John Levy, said Wilson’s lung was being reinflated at Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, California. (Continue Reading…)

FBI wiretaps have “given us the most powerful and persuasive source of all for seeing how utterly selfless Martin Luther King was,” as a civil rights leader, according to a leading civil rights scholar. “You see him being intensely self-critical. King really and truly believed that he was there to be of service to others.
