Blair Underwood Opens AIDS Center in Washington DC
Noting that the District is the “epicenter” of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation opened a free treatment clinic Thursday in the 2100 block of K Street, at the gateway to Georgetown. The opening of the AHF Blair Underwood Healthcare Center, named for the Hollywood actor and AIDS activist, was attended by Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and officials from the Obama administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the March of Dimes. Swizz Beatz Ex-Wife Puts Out an Open Letter to Alicia Keys
If you’re up on your hip-hop couples gossip, it’s been revealed that Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz allegedly had an affair, and she was the reason for the producer’s divorce from his singer/wife Mashonda. The couple separated back in early 2008, and then the rumors began to surface. While Mashonda has expressed her feelings over the alleged relationship with Keys, Swizzy hadn’t until sometime this May, when he hinted at it. Swizzy admitted to the New York Daily News that he’s in love with Keys, but says some of the lines he spit on the remix of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” single were a bit exaggerated. Signs of Life Stir Zimbabwe’s Stock Market
Zimbabwe’s moribund economy is slowly stirring, with signs of life in once-shuttered businesses helping to revive a stock market that was closed amid scandal last year, analysts said. Hammered by world-record hyperinflation, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange was shut down last November as the central bank sought to curb traders using dud cheques as well as activities of market speculators. Trading resumed in February, after the local currency was abandoned and a unity government was formed between President Robert Mugabe and his long-time rival, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
