thanks so much for blessing us with this beautiful manifesto. i need to print this out and put it on my ‘fridge as a daily reminder of what i need to be doing! this is such an amazing way to start the new year…being our SISTERS keepers.

Yes! This is what we need. As someone 21, there are alot of young women that need role models. As for me, I am the first women in my family to got to college so there are alot of things I don’t know. However, it is still my responsibility to help those young ladies younger than me, and I hope in return someone older will do that for me. Especially, when I am trying to make it as a journalist (as a black women I am going to need it).

What a positive way to begin the new year! As a black man I echo your sentiments. The lack of real role models, disintegration of family, and irrational selfishness and greed have hampered our entire community. Ultimately, it’s not the broken link with our African ancestors that will undo us. It’s the ever expanding knowledge gap and pervasive apathy of subsequent generations. Your “each one teach one” attitude can only help stem this tide.

Hey sis…yeah I am feeling you on this one. Seriously, I can count the sisters on one hand that have helped me or promoted my work. It’s a struggle and the only way I know how to fix it is to give back myself. I have interns, I speak at events, I encourage for people to call me, talk to me and ask me questions. That is the only way to get it done.

To all the sisters that have helped me or given me props – I salute you because it’s people like you that have empowered people like me. I hope that I can be that for someone someday soon.
