Back in '96, I studied abroad in Paris, and on a class assignment, was able to go speak with a rep from L'oreal. It was a group of us from a business class-one white French guy, a Middle Eastern girl and myself -black American girl. Well, the L'oreal rep (a white Frenchman) didn't seem to be too interested in hearing what the other young lady and I had to say. We were all asking questions (in English), but he seemed to be more focused on the French guy. He even offered him an internship at the end of the question/answer session. Ever since that experience, something didn't seem right about L'oreal to me. But, I just assumed it was a French thing, but this sheds some light on it! I’m not surprised by this at all. I knew racism in France was bad but this is ridiculous. I will never buy L'oreal again and I will definitely be sending a letter to the US branch and I hope that Clutch will encourage their readers to express their distaste as well.
