Stars rushed to take their seats as one of the city’s most consistent designers, Kevan Hall, showed off his 2008 spring line at L.A.’s Fashion Week. “He’s one of my favorites,” gushed actress Nia Long. “He just gets ’sexy,’ he gets ‘modern.’ [His clothes] fit like a glove and fit right in all of the right places.” “Ugly Betty”’s Vanessa Williams is also a fan of Kevan’s; he dressed her for the Emmys. Alive with rusts, golds and blues, Kevan’s new line of evening gowns, jackets and dresses were preceded by a lively band of tribal dancers and even a stilt walker. The African theme was carried throughout the collection in the beading, safari patterns and rich silk fabrics.

“I looked back at the beautiful people and the incredible country in terms of the embroideries and the beading that exists there,” Kevan says. “We pulled from the Dinka tribe and we pulled from the Masai.”

Awesome collection…..The superstars and especially African-American superstars of Movies, TV and music should use more African-American designers when choosing an outfit for the red carpet. I think all of the formal wear from his Spring Collection is Red Carpet worthy. Kevan, you have inspired me to go back to school, at the young age of 59, and get my Fashion Design degree.

I have followed Kevin Hall when he was the new designer to continue the Halston collection, he was the perfect choice, his clothes are awesome and timeless like Halston. He is just great. Also years ago Ebony Magazine did a feature on Kevin Hall. He is the designer to go to, and have been secretly for years. Halle barry, Angela Bassett, Robin Givens, Diana Ross and Kamora Lee have worn Mr. Hall designs for years.
