I feel sorry for Mo’Nique.. For her to make such an stupid comment on the N word, she’s not aware of her black history.

Black people died for the right to vote, the right to learn how to read and write, to be treated with respect and with dignity.. I will not support Mo’Nique’s future projects ever again!!!! Now who’s the dumb N now?

The funny thing I’ve realized about debating or stating one’s standpoint on a certain subject is that the two sides (in some cases more than two)have to agree on SOMETHING at the end of the day. Perhaps see some sort of light. Many of the folks who claim we should stop using it, are down right hypocrites. FACE IT. It’s 2007 already. All of a sudden (Hello Mr. Imus, Hello Caucasian suburban teens) we MUST put an end to it? Don’t get it twisted. When I hear young Black teens in public on the trains and Buses use the word, I cringe. In fact, I admit I don’t say anything. They’ll get it eventually. But that’s the point. We gotta stop stressing the media/technology population and tackle the situation with our youth. OUR BLACK YOUTH ESPECIALLY. Educate them. Cut the bullshit with all the crying about how we should stop using it. Casue 10 times out of 10, you used it within the last month or so…TRUST!!

Ditto on the sentiments above. I’m embarassed for and by her with those comments. Also, who puts Jay-Z in the same list as Condi Rice and Oprah. That’s bananas…she needs to get it together. It was cool (albeit, not convincing) her entire plus-size power, act like ladies, and reaching out to the female prisoner stuff she’s been doing–but, she lost all credibility and respect with this ignorant statement.

That excuse/reason Monique supplied for reasons to use the n-word is just as tired as it was the day it started circulating. No one that I know derives power from using what used to be negative and trying to flip in a positive matter. As a matter of fact, I think that very notion probably defies the laws of physics or something!

I’m with Nicole there are so many things I’m not feelin about Monique. I think it’s beautiful to want to be empowered as women, black or otherwise. But let us become empowered, oppose to trying to make ummm lemme try to find a clean way of saying this:-) Poop smell like Perfume. Garbage like mama’s homecooking:-) Let’s put garbage where it belongs in the trash and let us embrace that which truly dues build us up.

As not to derail the topic, just a gang of things Monique tries to put on a pedastil I’m not feelin and in relation to the topic, the N word can be nothing more than what it was created to be, ugly I don’t care who’s mouth it’s coming out of or how it’s used, IMO it’s never going to be something that holds power we just use it to put down one another not build up. And trust I use to use it like it was a part of the English language so my distaste for it comes from my own understanding of the use, not simply bashing Monique.

This word is dripping in bold. Bold of your grandma and grandpa. Words have power and people have died over this word. Hanging from trees wasn’t that long ago. We are so brainwashed. Why couldn’t you say the same thing using brother or sister. PEOPLE DIED over this word. Its not our right to take this word and use it like it ain’t nothing. We don’t have the right to do that. Its so disrespectful. And I owe my ancestors more. But I don’t expect anything more from her. She is so ignorant and unfunny. What a shame.

I remember Emmitt Till. I remember Rosa Parks. I remember Harriet Tubman. I remember and I will never forget. No matter if a rap or plus size unfunny comedian try to make me forget.
