Ha! I just saw this on Myspace and I love it! Musiq is one of fav artists and I never saw this coming from him but, I can dig it! I love crunk stuff…….
I like it okay- just not coming from Musiq SOULchild. And I’ma need him to move back to Philly, this instance, if this song was any indication as to what’s coming next from hm.
I agree Opium. I live in Atlanta and this sounds like he has switched his style to the south. I miss the old Musiq but maybe he is just experimenting….
This is really nice but I hope he goes back to his old style.
I know if Jill ends up moving to the ATL this better NOT happen!! I will protest LOL. Just jokes, not a bad sound for him but truly like Musiq as he is and not sure I could get use to this.
I heard this song a while ago and I thought maybe it was a joke. I mean it isn’t a horrible song…but ummm…I also agree with Opium.
I didn’t know Musiq moved to ATL but, I figured he’d at least had a long visit! LOL. Also, come on yall why must artists always be pigeonholed into a box? I’m sure that most artists listen to all types of music and have love for all types of music so why can’t they make it?
Musiq is entitled to explore every avenue of music that there is…..yes he’s soulful artist but there is much more to him the soul music….if people were honest and true Musiq fans as he grows musically so should his loyal fans!!! At some point a person has to change. I love the direction is he is going and as far as the track “Radio” the cd is not going to be composed with songs exactly like “Radio” It’s so funny how people just want him to stay under one genre of music and that’s it….he has to be able to grow as an artist first…either you love it or hate it!! It’s just that simple!!!
I don’t like this new Musiq song. Musiq has always had a unique sound and style and now he is just doing the basics. Very sad to see. Musiq needs to stick with his own brand of music.
Stephanie
I agree with Dee that Musiq has a right to develop, grow, and experiment as an artist who is undoubtedly influenced by all forms of black music. However, I agree with Stephanie in that this current song is just a rehash of what’s already being done (by people with way less talent). And in my own opinion, “Radio” isn’t even a good version of that stuff. Hopefully, this is not indicative of what else is on the new album.
Musiq can follow his muse wherever it takes him… chances are I won’t be following behind, however. ha.
I was lukewarm on Musiq before… this isn’t warming me up.
Seems gimmicky. I’m dissapointed for sure. I used to respect him but this makes him seem less like an artist and more like someone trying to ride a wave. The song doesn’t have any genuine passion to it. I doubt this is part of an expansion as some imagine it may be. It seems more like an effort to make money in an industry that lost its soul awhile ago.
Um.. wow. I don’t even know what to say about this. I’ve always loved Musiq’s style and soulful music, and as open as I am to growth and experimenting with different styles this just does not do it for me. To each his own…but I’m not feeling this at all.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
He was on 106 & Park the other day. He promised his new cd is not full of songs like this. He also mentioned how his music doesn’t get any play in the club. So I guess that was the inspiration for this particular song. He said he was trying some new things..
Considering that they rarely give him and artists like him airplay nowadays, I see this as a smart and strategic move. He did this song a little in concert and the sold-out crowd, who knew all the lyrics to all his previous stuff, still got with it so I hope it boosts his overall sales. He deserves thousands of people (and $$$) in a huge arena like the young and talent-challenged get (um, virtually ALL the young crooner wannabes like Pretty Ricky, Lloyd, etc.) instead of hundreds squeezed into the local House of Blues. Maybe this will motivate the masses.
At least the girl in the video was not naked. LOL Not what I was expecting but I agree with coco..
For those of you are so stuck on what he did in the past….check out his next upcoming single “So Beautiful” he has his own youtube……it’s a nice track!!!
