I cannot believe the sorry ass excuses that these designers are listing for keeping their runways white.

Seriously, give me five minutes and I can put together a list of 200 fantastic black models that could use the work.

The “we can’t find any black models” line makes me want to take off my earring and kick some ass.

They can’t find any because they can’t be bothered to look.

I grew up in a rural area without an Asian community around me, so the only Asian people I’d ever seen, until my mid teens, were my family. I heard people tell me what I looked like at school – flat face, flat nose, etc – and I thought that being Asian meant being ugly. (I then moved to a city and it turns out that I’m a pretty reasonable looking girl.) All of that is to say that I agree, there should be more women of color presented to the world. It’s ridiculous for anyone to be unsure whether or not non-white features can be beautiful. Furthermore, the 5′ 8″ height minimum is a pretty serious bar for Asian women.

I don’t know.I really don’t really pay to fashion like that to see if there is black models.If there was a black model I be proud. I wish everything wasn’t so much about race.I be happy just to see one so I know it reaches out to me.

This is really sad to read. But I guess the truth hurts. I hope they realize and strive to make changes in the future. Maybe if black people stop buying their clothes they’ll feel a little differently.

This really sickens me. I know i love fashion. But crap like this pisses me off about the fashion industry. It’s all about stepping outside of the box and presenting the world with fantasy and a scewed view. So why wouldn’t they have a larger variety of models represent their labels. I know they don’t stop setting up boutiques in asia, south america or africa. Where ever people are willing to spend currency they’re willing to ship their product. Trying to give some bull crap excuse that fit is most important. r u suggesting that there aren’t ethnic models who fit that description. I know that personally i whine about my size 2 frame and not being thick enough for a black girl all the time. So don’t give me that crap.

I’m sorry but i hate when people try to be sneaky racists. Call a damn Spade a Spade. “I don’t want black models in my Show.” Point blank Period

One of Ralph Lauren’s biggest clients is Oprah–she’s a black woman last I checked. Additionally, there are many black and other ethnic women who support the designers featured at Fashion Week so their excuses suck!
I watched “Catwalk” on the Style Network to see the shows and the models were just awful. Virtually none of them could walk worth a fart and there was only one black model-MAX in each show I saw. Nicole Miller, GenART, etc. It was sad to see no black/ethnic models working it and also to realize that there are no more supermodels….they are all so boring.
