Great article! I have just re-started and revamped my own personal budget and needed this motivational boost to keep going. It’s very overwhelming at times to do right by your finances but it is so worth it!

@ceecee, Congratulations on your budgeting success! Girl, Get Your Money Straight is an excellent book. I have read it twice myself, and I love how she encourages the reader to go deep and helps them figure out why they debt in the first place.

I’ve been faithfully budgeting for over a year now and I use Google spreadsheets because it’s online and I can gain access to it from anywhere. After reading “Girl Get Your Money Straight” I’ve been motivated to take it a step further and start using Mint which analyzes your spending habits and helps you monitor your credit cards, loans etc.

This was great! I also don’t believe in simply depriving yourself. I think we should always include a spot for a “treat” in our budget no matter how much you’re working with. If it’s just some new nail polish like you mentioned or a lunch date.
