Regarding the 80% unwed birthrate in Indiana, I’m at a loss for words. Supposedly, this is in part due to low academic attainment. But then the next story is about the shambles that is now the Detroit mayor’s office which has been created by supposedly educated black folk including Kilpatrick, Beatty and Kilpatrick’s wife (I include the wife b/c she is an enabler of her husband’s indiscretions when he repeatedly cheats, and she sticks around for the continual embarrassment and damage to her and her children.) Many of the black leaders who theoretically should be speaking out on this issue: Kilpatrick, Cosby (out of wedlock child w/ mistrees), Jesse Jackson (out of wedlock child w/ mistriess) etc. don’t have the moral authority to touch it. So I guess us average everyday folks have to do what we need to do at a grass roots level to help individual black youth, independent of our supposed leaders.
