The publisher of the popular children’s book series “Curious George” is considering legal action against a Georgia bar owner for selling T-shirts that show the inquisitive monkey peeling a banana with “Obama in ’08” printed beneath the image.

Violence Against Foreigners in South Africa
Five people were killed and 50 injured in suspected xenophobic attacks in the South African city of Johannesburg overnight, police said Sunday, in an escalation of violence that began last week. Foreigners, particularly Zimbabweans, have been targeted by mobs in some of Johannesburg’s poorest areas since early last week. They are accused of crime and stealing jobs from South Africans. Police spokeswoman Cheryl Engelbrecht said violence flared in a slum area in the Cleveland area of the city in the early hours of Sunday, with Zimbabweans the main targets. “Two people were burnt and three people were beaten to death,” she told local SAPA news agency. ‘Why Are Black Men Killing Each Other?’
Growing up in Newtowne 20 in the 1980s, Kobie Kiambu Parker saw a lot of things that children shouldn’t have to see: People shooting dice outside his apartment, blood and violence in the stairwells, drug dealers on the streets. Through it all, Mr. Parker credited his mother, Claudia, for making sure he studied and focused on his education, and for helping him stay out of trouble on the streets where some of his classmates were.
