Tomlin: Youngest Coach to Win Super Bowl
Never pretty. Never perfect. That’s head coach Mike Tomlin’s mantra for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But after Sunday night’s come-from-behind 27-23 victory against the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl, Tomlin’s found something pretty to add to the team’s trophy case. A record-breaking sixth Lombardi Trophy. It didn’t come easy. The Steelers surrendered a 20-7 fourth-quarter lead with a safety and two touchdowns by Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald. But Tomlin calmly rallied his troops for a championship-winning drive in the final minute. “We have a team that doesn’t blink in the face of adversity,” Tomlin said. “It’s never going to be pretty or perfect.” Tomlin kept his emotions in check when Fitzgerald, in a very un-Steelers-like way, scored a spectacular 64-yard touchdown with 2:37 left to give the Cardinals a 23-20 lead. Jennifer Hudson Triumphs at Super Bowl After Tragedy
Singer Jennifer Hudson made a triumphant return to the stage, belting out the US national anthem at the Super Bowl football game two months after the murders of her nephew, brother and mother. Hudson’s brother and mother were found shot dead in the family’s Chicago home in October. Her young nephew’s bullet-riddled body was found in an abandoned car three days later. The singer’s brother-in-law William Balfour has been charged in the crimes. The murders shocked the country, and prompted an outpouring of public support and sympathy for the popular Oscar-winning actress and singer. Hudson, whose star turn in “Dreamgirls” earned her an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007, was in Florida promoting her latest movie, “The Secret Life of Bees,” when she learned of the slayings. Michelle Obama Bans Daughters from Mixing with Celebrities
The girls’ final encounter for now with A-list stars came on the night of Barack Obama’s inauguration. The Jonas Brothers boy band made a surprise appearance in the White House as Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven, explored their new home and their parents danced at the inauguration balls. But family friends told Us Weekly that Mrs Obama is “trying to keep them grounded” and insisting on no special treatment as they begin their new lives in Washington.
