Former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and former National Security Council chief Stephen Hadley are teaming up as the latest big-time entrants in the endless battle of the groups — as in the Kissinger Group, the Scowcroft Group, the Chertoff Group (with former CIA director Michael Hayden) and so many others. The official launch of The RiceHadley Group, which styles itself a “strategic advisory firm” for international companies is to be in the next week or so. It will be a bi-coastal operation. Kids aware of racism by age 9, study finds
By their ninth birthday, most children are aware of racism and know the stereotypes other people hold about certain groups, according to a new study that belies the idea of innocent, colour-blind childhood. “Around the second or third grade, you see a majority of kids understanding that people have stereotypes,” says Clark McKown, associate executive director of the Rush NeuroBehavioral Center at Rush University in Chicago. “I think that would be surprising to many people, that by second or third grade a lot of kids get it, they get that there’s racism in the world and they understand what it is.” (Continue Reading…)

Facebook status update provides alibi
For 19-year-old Rodney Bradford, a simple Facebook status update turned into much more: a rock-solid alibi after he was accused of a crime. Confirmation of the time stamp on the update and the location from which it was entered showed he could not have been at the scene of a robbery in another part of New York City. After he had spent almost two weeks in jail, the case against him was dismissed. The story began at 11:49 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, when Bradford was updating his Facebook status at his father’s home in Harlem.
