Actor. Model. Singer. Dancer. Collins Pennie is just the kind of leading man we can’t get enough of. He recently wrapped production of the highly anticipated sequel Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming, and for this Brooklyn-native– it’s just a warm-up!
Collins’ unconventional versatility is compellingly fresh in a business stricken with sameness. Following industry heavyweights such as Djimon Hounsou and Tyson Bedford, Collins got his start in 2005 as a model in Calvin Klein’s iconic “CK One” fragrance campaign. As a skilled dancer, he was featured in Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied” video. Making his rounds on the small screen, Collins has appeared on “CSI: Miami” and “Law & Order.” Collins’ venture into the big screen has proven to be a meteoric series of projects. In 2008, Collins starred in the number one box office hit Prom Night with Idris Elba followed by his role aside Naturi Naughton in last year’s MGM remake of Fame releasing today on DVD.
This year, the busy actor stars in the return of the 2007 release Stomp the Yard which grossed $74 million worldwide. Collins portrays Chance Harris, a student juggling school, girls, a job, debt, and a nationally televised step competition during a stressful homecoming weekend at the HBCU-esque Truth University. Scheduled for release later this year the film directed by Rob Hardy (Gospel, 2005 and Pandora’s Box, 2002) is sure to yield packed audiences. As this sexy new star ascends, trust, we will all be watching.
