What would you do if you saw your man cheating?

A public scandal brews after photos surfaced today of music producer and singer The-Dream openly prancing about a beach with an unknown woman. This woman is not his wife of eight months and mother of his latest child, the beautiful singer and actress Christina Milian.

US Magazine reports the couple officially announced their separation after these photos went public. The-Dream’s rep states, “Terius ‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward.”

What you see is evidence, that no matter what, public embarrassment can happen to you too. Although the couple long separated, The-Dream’s public affection for another woman shows he has little consideration and respect for his family’s privacy.

Years ago, when I left the Polish Bar Brooklyn getting a fresh Essie mani/pedi, I called my man to see what his plans were that hot Saturday afternoon. He didn’t answer. I called again, no answer. And just as I was texting “I’m thinking of you” on my first-generation iPhone, I looked up and saw him walking down Washington with another girl. My heart fell to the cracked pavement. I could feel my tongue swelling, my petite brown body trembling with confusion and angst. My mind sped¬† a thousand thoughts. Among them, “Why would he want to hurt me like this?” I’ll keep what ensued thereafter to myself. But what I can reveal is that I never thought it could happen to me.

Multiply my local embarrassment by 10 and you have an idea about how Christina Milian feels today. Or how she’s been feeling for sometime.

This is not a moment for gossip. This is no time for “I know he didn’t!” email ranting. Rather we should take in the latest Black Hollywood spectacle with compassion, humility and the spirit of sisterhood.

Christina we’re with you. You are so much more bigger than this.

What you would do if this happened to you? Has your man ever publicly cheated?

I agree with Marvice about disrepsecting the sanctity marriage. People do not respect marriage, its like it has no value anymore. You have to be careful with whom you decide to marry. That is why the bible says you have to be “equally yoked”. Two people need to be on the same page about things. We, especially women need to be careful about who decide to let “cover us”. With that being said I wish nothing but the best to CM during this difficult time.

  • I personally think the Dream is Down Low. I have 3 gay cousins and can spot one from a mile away. Also if u watched the Grammys he and I think 2 other producers excepted Beyonces award for a song they produced if I were a Boy I think. The producer spoke and mannerisms were very feminine. The Dream saw him live again mannerisms. I think all 3 or 4 of the producers thsat were on that stage were Gay. That’s why he can’t keep a wife.
