From The BVX — No, this isn’t a blast from the past. This is a photo of South Carolina Senate President Glenn McConnell dressed up as a Confederate soldier with slaves!
You ever see something that makes you do a double take in amazement?
Over the weekend, the National Federation of Republican Women held its annual fall board of directors meeting in Charleston, S.C. Many major Republican leaders throughout South Carolina attended the event and took part in a very special event called “The Southern Experience.”
The name alone might be an eyebrow raiser. But this costume party of sorts featured one of those “dramatic hamster” moments.
The moment in question was when McConnell dressed up as a Confederate general and posed with African Americans in slave attire.
Yes, you read that right…slaves. I guess this is how Republicans party.
Now, McConnell has been known for his affinity to dress up as a Confederate soldier. It’s certainly something that African Americans in general aren’t too fond of. However, the fact that there are not one, but two, African Americans in attendance dressed up as slaves and willing to be photographed smiling is just mind-blowing. Perhaps they didn’t get the memo that being dressed up as slaves and taking pictures with a Confederate soldier isn’t cool.
