It can happen on any given day. Someone says a celebrity is pregnant and everyone jumps on the gossip bandwagon. Beyoncé is no exception—however she is not letting the he-say she-say swoop down and control her career.
Her mother, Tina Knowles, has been the spokesperson regarding her daughter’s childbearing news lately, shutting down the gossip and stating that Beyoncé is not pregnant. When she appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” to promote her new line “Miss Tina” for Wal-Mart, she joked and said, “I’m here to clear the rumors up. The truth is that it’s not Beyoncé that’s pregnant, it’s me. I’m kidding ya’ll. I’m 56.”
In an interview with ABC’s “Nightline,” the “Diva” singer, who just premiered her concert film, “I Am…World Tour,” addressed the issue head on.
She told ABC’s Cynthia McFadden that although she is not pregnant, she does plan to have children “one day,” With her career in the constant buzz that it is right now, Knowles said that she is not ready to be a mother yet.
Beyoncé is a private person and she’s not afraid to hold on to that fact.
“When it comes to my business and my work, I’m very protective,” Beyoncé said. “I’ve earned the right to have standards and I don’t bend on them at all.”
The interview also features a behind-the-scenes look at the Grammy Award winning singer’s journey across the globe in her concert DVD, “I Am…World Tour.” The film shares intimate backstage moments with Beyoncé, including her counting down days until she sees her husband and a reflection of her musical career.
The 90-minute primetime special will air on ABC Thanksgiving night.
