Fab singer and songwriter, Janelle Monae, was nominated twice for the 53rd edition of the Grammy Awards.
The innovative and energetic performer has received a nomination for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for “Tightrope,” featuring Big Boi. She was also nominated for the category of Best Contemporary R&B Album for her album, The ArchAndroid. She has received three Grammy nominations since she started her amazing career. Her first one came for her song, “Many Moons,” in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance category.
Being that The ArchAndroid is her first full length album, she says that she is both grateful and honored to be so recognized for her talents this early in her career. More than anything, she explains how she was created to unite and inspire others. She also speaks about how winning a Grammy was never her main focus when she was pulling the album together. Her main focus was to create good music that people could come together around and enjoy.
