Tyler Perry, known for his resilient drive and the entertainment empire he has amased, has offered to rebuild the home of an 88-year-old woman who lost all her belongings in a recent fire.
Rosa Lee Ransby of Atlanta and her 4-year-old great-granddaughter were able to escape from a fire Tuesday that destroyed her 40-year-old home in southwest Atlanta. Firefighters began to solicit donations for the two as soon as news spread of the fire.
Perry, who lives in Atlanta, visited Ransby’s neighborhood Thursday and pledged to rent her a house for a whole year and pay for all her utilities, to build her a new home, and to buy her furniture.
Fire Chief Todd Moore of Coweta County, where Ransby lived, said that Perry’s generosity “made my Christmas.”
