Miss Mara Hruby has had my heart since I first heard her cover my father’s favorite song, Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.” Her voice has all the depth of a soultress who saw jazz live in the forties and fifties, but uses a measure uncommon in today’s machine generated artists.  Her style is sophisticated and sensual, but it is also quite shy- a fact she attributes to only having performed in public for a year.

Mara may be quiet, but her voice is a force to behold.  In her new video, the Oakland raised singer takes on the The Roots’ J Dilla tribute “Stereolab” from Dilla Joints. After giving the track a new life, Mara is giving it a new look as well.

I really like her EP. I’m familiar with all the artists music she covered. That Jamiroquai
