Bullying has become one of the most talked about issues among America’s youth and it seems everyone is weighing in. While we’ve seen PSAs from everyone including the President and First Lady to the stars of Glee. And it turns out the Obama Administration and television’s hottest singing stars are not the only ones who have something to say.
According to reports, 50 Cent (yes, that 50 Cent) is working on a book about bullying. The novel, which is tentatively titled, Playground, is about a 13-year-old bully “who finds redemption as he faces what he’s done.”
While the G-Unit front man is not exactly thee person you would think of as the spokesperson for anti0bullying, 50 Cent says the book’s inspiration came from his own childhood and the life of his son.
“I had a strong desire to write ‘Playground’ because I wanted to explore how a kid becomes a bully. I drew on events from my own childhood and adolescence, but was excited to see the story take on its own life. This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.”
I’m not quite sure how this one will turn out but I wouldn’t bet against Playground making sales just yet. 50 has made a good amount off his published works. He made his debut as an author in 2005 with From Pieces to Weight followed by 2008’s The 50th Laws of Power.
What do you think of 50’s latest gig as an anti-bullying author? Are you buying this new chapter in the rapper’s career? Share your thoughts!
