As the “eighties babies” are now full grown and deeply nostalgic about our childhoods, Nickelodeon has smartly decided to air the kids shows we grew up watching. The nightly “The Nineties Are All That” block will feature reruns of Clarissa Explains It All, Doug, Kenan & Kel, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, All That and other period favorites. Considering the smart, subversive, adult-friendly humor of many of these shows, this seems to be a brilliant move on the part of the network and will bring endless joy to 20-somethings looking for some escapism from the doldrums of adulthood and to younger viewers who have embraced the “retro” trend. Now, excuse me as I go look for gray hairs in light of the fact that my childhood fancies are now “retro”.

What was your favorite Nick show from back in the day? I was a Pete & Pete head; it was so odd and off-the-wall.  All That was dope, but Kenan and Kel left me dry at times on their spin-off, much like 2011 Kenan Thompson on SNL.
